Gay Soldiers Need Love Too

February 15, 2007

So the military has opened its own nightclub at Fort Stewart army base in Georgia. Cause that’s the best thing to spend $300,000 on when you can’t seem to find enough body armor to send to the troops fighting in Iraq. The idea, as I understand it, is recreate the party scene prevalent in big cities and to offer up single women for the male soldiers to oogle over.

But what the heck about the gay soldiers? I know that the military still has it out for soldiers who are found to be gay, but come on. You can’t create something special for the non-gay soldiers while hunting down and kicking out the gays.

From http://www.military.com/NewsContent/0,13319,125382,00.html?wh=news:

Deciding too many Soldiers were dying behind the wheel after partying out of town, Fort Stewart commanders spent $300,000 turning a defunct sports bar on the Army post into Rocky’s, a bar and nightclub that aims to mimic the after-hours party scene of Savannah’s hippest spots.

Knowing booze and dance tunes wouldn’t be enough, commanders also eased security restrictions at the post’s front gate to encourage civilians – namely women, who get free admission between 10 p.m. and midnight Fridays and Saturdays – to party at Rocky’s, which opened in November.

Aren’t you people struggling to fit into regular society? Why do you need something special?

Exactly my point. Lift the ban on gays in the military so that we can exercise our right to serve just like you do.

And what do you mean “you people?”

By the way, there is no ban on gays in the military. Where have you been?

Tell that to that to the more than 11,000 soldiers that have been booted under Don’t Ask, Don’t Tell including more than 300 foreign language specialists. Bill Clinton punked out and rather than ordering the Pentagon to accept openly gay soldiers he saddled us with DADT.

Did you get screwed by Bill Clinton? Do you feel like Monica Lewinsky?

Leaders in both parties have a tendency to try to screw the gays. And you will never see me in a tacky blue dress, so no, I don’t feel like Monica.

Those Soldiers who were booted must have told. They knew the consequence. If you don’t follow policy, you’re out. The policy is there to maintain order and discipline of the unit. It’s how the military runs. It’s how it has been since 1775.

And why don’t you stop ragging on the military until you actually are patriotic enough to don the uniform?

C.L. in most cases the soldiers kicked out for being gay were hunted down by military officials or ratted out by homophobic soldiers. In any case, we should allow people who want to serve to do so whatever their sexual orientation.

Joining the military doesn’t somehow make you more patriotic, it justs reflects a choice of that you’ve made on how to express your patriotism.

That is the single largest pile of B.S. that I have read here yet.

You are so far gone in your brainwash that it makes me sick to continue any conversations with you. You do not deserve the honor of the military, and there is certainly no room for someone who believes that joining the military does not affect patriotism. Tell that to the familes of BRAVE soldiers who died for our country.

You are a disgrace, and I am so glad that you are not in the military. It’s not because you are gay. It’s because of your lack of HONOR!
