Navy Can’t Quit Jason Knight

June 9, 2007

The powers that be of the Navy have once again called openly gay sailor Jason Knight to service. You may remember that Jason was booted of the Navy for being gay, then invited back and kicked out once more after he gave an interview saying that he’s a ‘mo. Now, they have assigned him to the Individual Ready Reserve which basically means that should the need arise, Jason could be called back to active duty. Crazy, uh?

Meanwhile, all of the Republican presidential candidates oppose Jason and other gays serving openly in the military. In a recent debate not one of the Ten Angry White Men thought that openly gay and lesbian Americans should be able to serve. According to John McCain, the Don’t Ask, Don’t Tell policy, which has recently resulted in the discharge of 58 Arabic linguists, is working just fine. But, then McCain also thinks that Baghdad is as safe as Detroit.
