Gays in the Military

When I think of gay soldiers I think of people like Eric Alva, the first American soldier injured in the war in Iraq, former Arabic linguist Alastair Gamble or former staff sergeant and World War II vet John Cook.

So, why does the New York Times think drag queens?

This photo accompanied an article on how easily openly gay soldiers have been integrated into the British military.

John at Americablog calls the Times out for their casual homophobia and rightfully so.

For a more indepth look at the heroic gays and lesbians who have stepped up to serve our country only to have the discriminatory practices of our military smack them in the face.

A hero to me would be one that would lead an insurgency against the Bush regime. That would be a hero, Gay or Straight. THAT would be defending America.

    Thank you Paul.

Gays and lesbians bleed and die like every other solder. Shame in the hate filled homophobics and the military commanders.
