Elizabeth Edwards Supports Gay Marriage

As John at Americablog said, “Wow.”

Elizabeth Edwards, starring at the kickoff event of San Francisco’s signature Gay Pride Parade, came out in support of legalized gay marriage today — taking a position which she acknowledged is at odds with her husband, presidential candidate John Edwards.

“I don’t know why somebody else’s marriage has anything to do with me,” she said. “I’m completely comfortable with gay marriage.”

Mrs. Edwards went there and we love her for it. I am still hoping that Michelle Obama will become Jackie O. 2.0, but I am really pleased that Mrs. Edwards made her statement marriage equality.

There is no reason other than heterosexist prejudice to deny same-sex couples the right to marry.

More here.

Imagine Elizabeth for our First Lady! She more than he is why I like John Edwards.

    I imagine her president!

Elizabeth Edwards would make a splendid president. Her husband could work on issues like Darfur and poverty and AIDS.
