Fired for Being Gay

Two soldiers are kicked out of the military every day for being gay, while our country is at war in Afghanistan and Iraq. As Rep. Gary Ackerman (D-NY) said the Pentagon “seems more afraid of gay people than they are of terrorists.”
Its clear to most people, except the Republican presidential candidates, the Pentagon and some members of Congress, that Don’t Ask, Don’t Tell has been a complete failure. It needs to be repealed not just as a matter of civil rights, but also as a matter of national security. I can’t imagine that it would be easy to become proficient in Arabic nor can I imagine new recruits beaten down the doors at the military training academies demanding training as Arabic linguists. And here we have another story of a soldier with critically needed language skills denied the opportunity to serve because he’s gay.
Send a message to your members of Congress telling them to lift the ban here.
