Barack Obama Inspires

Its no secret that I am a fan of Barack Obama. Of all of the candidates running for president, I believe that he has the combination of intelligence, foresight and policy ideas to lead our nation out of its current malaise. One of the things that constantly strikes is how much he inspires people to believe in themselves and the power of government as a force for good. In recent years with the hyper-negative, slash and burn politics exemplified by the Bush Administration and Karl Rove its as though any sense of the common good has been flushed away and replaced a kind of permanent campaign that rewards those with power and punishes those with power.

I am not naive enough to think that Barack single-handedly can change this. But, I do believe that the strong sense of possibility and optimism that his campaign is generating among what the Beltway pundits call “ordinary Americans” helps to make possible the kind of change that will need to get our troops out of Iraq, provide healthcare to the 47,000,000 Americans who are currently without and begin to restore our credibility in the international community.

Here is one example of why Barack is helping people to believe again:

I’m pulling my support for Obama.

He gave an interview which I will be linking to shortly, in whcih he’s embraced the position of other, mainstream Dumbocrats like Nancy Pelosi and Dick Durbin, who say, Bush’s criminality hasn’t reached the levels of impeachment.

Evidently, Obama will say anything not to offend his Master.
