Ron Paul?

Ron Paul, the Republican congressman and current presidential candidate, has come out nowhere to have more campaign cash in the bank than John McCain. I have written before about the sinking McCain campaign, but who would have guessed that Ron Paul would find himself third among Republican candidates in terms of cash on hand?

From Political Radar:

Though often regarded as a longshot candidate for president, Republican Ron Paul tells ABC News that he has an impressive $2.4 million in cash on hand after raising an equal amount during the second quarter, putting him ahead of one-time Republican frontrunner John McCain, who reported this week he has only $2 million in the bank.

Its true that Paul’s stash is far behind that of frontrunners Rudy Guiliani ($18 million) and Mitt Romney ($12 million), but as Paul says in an interview to be aired Sunday on ABC “I think some of the candidates are on the down-slope, and we’re on the up-slope.”

Cool website. Just one little thing: Dr. Paul is a *currently* serving congressman.
