HRC Colors in Lines of Gay Presidential Forum

July 24, 2007 at 5:29 pm 4 comments

Details on the great gay presidential forum continue to become clear. You remember all the drama that reared its head in the LGBT part of the blogosphere when the Human Rights Campaign and Logo announced that they were teaming up on a presidential forum to be broadcast live on August, right?

Well, the cries of gay bloggers were heard. First, nutty as a fruitcake Mike Gravel was invited to join the homo games. Now, HRC and Logo have added two bonafide journalists to the mix. Margaret Carlson of Bloomberg News will moderate and Jonathan Capehart of the Washington Post and the National Lesbian and Gay Journalists Association will join Melissa Etheridge and HRC President Joe Solmonese on the panel of inquisitors.

HRC is also seeking questions from people like you would like to see the candidates answer. Submit your question here. The forum will be televised live on August 9th beginning at 9pm EST/6pm PST on Logo. You can also view the forum at the Logo website.

Oh boy. I’m glad that democrats are participating though. It should be an interesting disscussion. Do you think Edwards will stutter through the whole thing?

I am hoping that all of the candidates will be bettered prepared for this forum than they were for the gay questions on CNN/YouTube debate. being cute will only get Edwards so far.

It would be interesting if someone could do a report on who are the lead gay advisors for each of the presidential campaigns.

I know that Hillary, Barack and Edwards have released lists of LGBT supporters but that’s not the same thing as saying who their highest ranked LGBT staffer is.

This would be one useful thing HRC could do.

I know that Edwards’ political director is gay and Clinton just got the former secretary general of the World Jewish Congress to head her LGBT outreach efforts. Obama also has lots of LGBT people in his ranks of supporters.

You are right, it would be good to know who are the highest ranking gays in the campaigns.
