Christopher Dodd Takes On Bill O’Reilly

August 4, 2007 at 1:30 pm 7 comments

Senator Christopher Dodd’s smackdown of right-wing media puppet Bill O’Reilly is some mighty good tv. Dodd went on went on Loofah Boy’s show on Fox Noise to challenge him over his ridiculous attacks against liberal bloggers and particularly DailyKos. As usual, O’Reilly tries to shout Dodd down. But, Dodd wasn’t having it. Dodd went with him toe-to-toe and left O’Reilly stuttering and waving his hands like maniac.

Pressure from bloggers have forced Home Depot and Lowes to stop advertising on O’Reilly’s Fox television show. Let’s make BMW next.

I watched this shaking my head. How can anyone, conservative or not, take this guy seriously? He’s insane!

He is pretty out there. He is full of anger and bombast. His habit of shouting down guests on his show did not work in this case.

Problem is not with O’Reilly (there are a LOT more problems than just this one instance), but that he is able to actually sway the thinking of so many otherwise decent people is what scares me-and that they take him and that goofball Rush to heart and think their words are pure gold. I just wonder if any of those folks are the same ones still dragging their knuckles on the ground and marrying their cousins.

And part of the problem is that Fox Noise gives him a megaphone and a big salary to spew his venom. O’Reilly is able to influence lots of people because of the power and respect that he is accorded because of his position in the media. Otherwise decent people think that he can’t be that crazy if he has radio and television shows. But, they are wrong and he really is that mean-spirited and cynical.

I agree, I see him as just another media journalist abusing his power and influence on a televised tv show.

That’s why its so important that we call him out for what he is. Its important that people know that there is more spin going on O’Reilly’s show than in any laundry mat.
