The Great Gay Debate

August 9, 2007 at 8:49 am 3 comments

Today’s the day that we follow the bouncing rainbow colored ball over to Logo to watch the HRC/Logo presidential forum on LGBT issues. The forum will be broadcast live beginning at 9pm EST, 6pm PST on Logo and Logoonline. You find all of the details here.

Not content with talking to the gays, the Big Three aka Hillary Clinton, John Edwards and Barack Obama are using all the excitement to hold LGBT focused fundraisers in L.A. How much face time an attendee at any of these events will get with the candidates is unknown. Andy has the event details here.

Barack Obama is also using the occasion to announce his National LGBT Leadership Council and to unveil the LGBT issues section of his website called Obama Pride. The Council list includes a slew of LGBT elected officials including NH State Rep. Ed Butler, CT Assemblywoman Beth Bye, GA State Rep. Karla Drenner, WA State Sen. Ed Murray and San Francisco Supervisor Bevan Dufty. You can peep the full list here. Clinton and Edwards both announced similar lists of LGBT supporters earlier in the year.

DISCLOSURE: I have stated before and feel the need to state again that I have pitched my tent in Camp Obama.

A number of bloggers have been offering up questions to the candidates and about the forum itselfhere, here and here. More than 4,000 questions were submitted online though it still remains to be seen whether or not seriously tough questions will be raised by the panelists which include Jonathan Capehart (Washington Post), Margaret Carlson (Bloomberg News), HRC President Joe Solmonese and Melissa Etheridge.

I am so glad they brought in some real journalists. God knows I love Melissa Etheridge, but when I saw her special a few years ago where she sat on a stool and read from her autobiography. OMG! No! No! No! Does anyone else remember that debacle?

Yes, but they like our money. So wether or not something actually gets done, its all about the gay dollar.

I see where Obama played the separate, but equal, “civil unions for the queers, but not marriage,” card tonight.

Ironic coming from an African American. As a gay man in a 15 year relationship with my same-gender spouse, I find this highly offensive and I’m not cutting these DINO Dems any slack on this issue.

They want our time; our creativity and most importantly, our ca$h, then they kick us in the face.

Sorry, not this time around. Obama can suck my dick.
