White House Turns Attack Ads on Republicans

In another sign of just how desperate the Bush administration has become in trying to defend its Iraq war policy, a White House front group has launched attack ads against Republicans who are not in lockstep with the president’s handling of the war. The goal of the $15 million campaign is according to former White House spokesperson Ari Fleischer “is to tell people that the buildup of U.S. troops in Iraq is working.”

If the surge were really working, would you need to use the same techniques that corporations use to sell us soda, cupcakes and blue jeans to convince people of that? I’m just saying…

No amount of political doublespeak is going to make us forget that this has been the bloodiest summer yet in Iraq.
