Morning Jolt of Blog Love

If you haven’t had your morning coffee, there are enough revelations floating around the blogosphere to jolt you wide awake.

From Pam’s House Blend: Is the leadership of the Boy Scouts following in the path of the Catholic Church hierarchy?

…the Boy Scouts have ejected at least 5,100 adult leaders nationwide for sexual abuse allegations since 1946. And the files reveal that despite efforts to keep potential abusers from joining, the problems persist: In the past 15 years alone, the organization has kicked out leaders for such allegations at a rate of once every other day.
The 45 boxes of files are not public because of a strict court order that prohibits the Stewarts and their lawyers from disclosing specific cases. But a statistical summary of the files, provided by the Stewarts’ attorneys, shows the problem is larger than previously known.

Terrance Heath has a number of things to say about conservative Black ministers who have jumped in bed with white anti-gay religious extremists to try to defeat the federal hate crimes bill.

Yes, these misguided (or just plain mean) minister retain all the same rights as the Nazis or the Klan. And, yes, it does tickle me to be able to make that comparison again, as I’ve done once or twice before. Men like Willie Wilson, Alfred Owens, Eddie Long, and Wellington Boone may fulminate against faggots as much as they like. In their God’s name even. But before they saddle up to ride with the Klan, I’d like to remind them of a couple of things.

From the Left reports that washed up guitarist and gun nut, Ted Nugent, had some pretty scary things to say about guns, Barack Obama and Hillary Clinton.

And because we all need an occasional laugh with our politics, here is a bit of Bill Maher on how the Iraq war has been run on slogans. Ten words or less, please.
