More Larry Craig Drama

The Larry Craig drama continues:

The post-arrest interview with the arresting officer has surfaced here. On the tape Craig can be heard desperately trying to explain away his actions. Its almost painful to listen to.

More Republicans are calling for him to resign his senate seat.

CNN is reporting that Craig is expected to resign soon.

Senator Craig may be experiencing a lot of emotional pain, but it is nothing compared to the pain that he and the Republican Party have caused millions of LGBT Americans. By voting at every available opportunity against LGBT people, Craig has helped to deny us civil rights protections and made it harder for people to be open and honest about who they are.

I feel bad for Craig. I really do. But, he made the choice to live in the most hypocritical of fashions by opposing LGBT civil rights while seeking sex with other men. The closet is a damaging and destructive place. It must be destroyed so that no other LGBT person has to ever be ashamed of who they are.

This isn’t about gay vs. straight. I was engaged to a straight man who turned out the be a sex addict. He engaged in the manner of behavior the senator in accused of. When my fiance was forced to come clean, because I caught him cheating with another woman, all of this came out. I didn’t understand any of this. Over the next year I read everyting I could read.

Bottom line: For my fiance “it was just sex”, which he often solicited in a bathroom at a major mid-western university. The “signals” between Craig and the cop are exactly what my fiance described to me three years ago. My fiance doesn’t prefer men – he wants a blow job. I’ll bet good money that Sen. Craig isn’t gay – I believe there’s a sex addiction issue at play.

Or it could be that he’s bisexual. You are right its not just gay vs. straight. A lot of folks are open to romantic and sexual relationships with people of both genders.

What really bugs me about people like Craig, Ted Haggard, David Vitter etc is that they preach all day long about morality and work to deny LGBT people civil rights while they engage in the very activities they condemn. That’s just hypocritical.
