Marriage Question at the Fox Noise Republican Debate

September 6, 2007 at 4:57 am 4 comments

At the Fox Noise Republican debate last night in New Hampshire, a voter was asked if there is a need for a constitutional amendment banning marriage between same-sex couples. She received loud cheers when she said “Absolutely not. We’re the state of “live free or die” and people should be able to marry the person they love.

“The same question was posed to presidential candidate Senator Sam Brownback of Kansas who, of course, said yes. As Brownback expressed his support for marriage discrimination against same-sex couples he was roundly booed.

The Republican Party seems clueless to the fact that its continued use of divisive wedge issues has worn thin with the American electorate and that we are looking for political leadership that can unite us to solve our common problems not demagogues who use race, economic status, sexual orientation and immigration status to divide us..
