Mitt Romney Does Not Heart the Gays

September 8, 2007 at 12:49 pm 6 comments

The New York Times has a good article on how Multiple Choice Mitt Romney has fallen out of like with the gays. They call it a “shift in tone.” Whereas, I tend to agree with Andrew Sullivan that its a “betrayal of gay equality for the sake of naked political opportunism.”

Mitt was for the gays before he was against them/us.

For those keeping track, he opposes non-discrimination legislation, marriage, civil unions and domestic partnerships, repeal of the ban on openly gay soldiers in the military and hate crimes legislation that includes LGBT people.

And the gays don’t heart Romney unless you happen to be among the braindead members of the Log Cabin Repugs.

LCR makes endless excuses for the likes of Romney and Guiliani. Its pretty bad. In 2004 they had the guts not to endorse Bush for the presidency. It will be interesting to watch what they do this election cycle and how they try to spin their support for candidates who clearly do not support LGBT civil rights.

The whole reason he won Mass. was because he LIED to the gay community, telling us he would be the guy “to get things done for gay rights”.
Once elected, he flipped us off and tried to pull the rug out from underneath. Meanwhile the state Democtatic majority were shaking their heads saying, “didn’t we try and warn you guys?”

[…] Multiple Choice Mitt continues to say that there is no need for non-discrimination laws that include sexual orientation and gender identity even as the Senate leadership is forcing Larry Craig to resign. John McCain and Sam Brownback continue to advocate the denial of marriage rights to same-sex couples. And all of the Republican candidates oppose allowing openly gay and lesbian Americans from serving in the military. […]
