Ex-Prostitute Comes Clean on Relationship with Senator David Vitter

In a press conference on Tuesday a former prostitute detailed her “business relationship” with Republican Senator David Vitter that had her providing services to him 2-3 times a week between July and November 1999. Wendy Yow Ellis (a.k.a. Wendy Cortez) passed a lie detector test that was paid for by magazine publisher Larry Flynt. 1999 was the year that Vitter was elected to Congress.

Vitter, you may remember, admitted engaging in a “very serious sin” when it was revealed that his phone number was on the list of the D.C. Madame. But, his relationship with Ms. Ellis ended before his association with the D.C. Madame’s call girl operation began. The New Orleans Times-Picayune reports that then Representative Vitter made at least 5 calls to the D.C. Madame between October 1999 and February 2001

.Vitter won election on a platform of “family values” and opposition to LGBT civil rights. I am wagering that the voters who elected him do not consider committing adultery with a hooker to be a conservative family value. Its certainly not among the things that the Republican Party has supported.

So, the question becomes will the Republican leadership who immediately called for Senator Larry Craig’s resignation after it was reported that he was arrested for cruising a cute male undercover cop in an airport men’s room, now call as aggressively for Vitter to resign? Or will the leadership continue to offer support to Vitter because his indiscretions were with women whereas Craig’s indiscretions were with men?

We shall see. I doubt it though. If Vitter resigns, then the Democratic governor of Louisiana would appoint his replacement. It wasn’t such a big partisan del for Craig to be kick to the curb because the Republican governor of Idaho gets to name his replacement.
