Hatemonger Fred Phelps better hope that God gives him a really big loan because he has just been slapped with an $11 million judgement for protesting at the funeral of a Maryland soldier killed in the Iraq war. Phelps and his inbred brood who made a shameful name for themselves promoting a virulent strain of homophobia and claiming that “God hates fags” and that AIDS is God’s judgement against homosexuality, now claim that the Iraq war is God’s retribution for America’s moral decline.

From the Washington Post:

The jury ordered the pastor and two other church members — his daughters, Shirley L. Phelps-Roper and Rebekah L. Phelps-Davis — to pay $8 million in punitive damages and $2.9 million in compensatory damages. Snyder, of Westminster, died in a vehicle accident March 3, 2006, in Anbar province.

Members of the church protested at Snyder’s funeral, displaying signs, including one that read, “Thank God for Dead Soldiers.”

I hope Phelps is the only tenant in the Hell he proscribes for so many others. He created it, let him live there. Actually, I think he just one more sad case of “look at Me!” I wonder if he can find enough gullible fools to refill his coffers. If the rest of that universe is any indication, he probably can. Preying (praying for ?)the fears and hopes of the poorly raised (minds, not cash), is a multi-million dollar media money maker opportunity for religion draped predators.

This is not a church, this is a hate group. Westboro Baptist Church spreads its hate through picketing in our streets, provoking attacks, with abusive language and flag desecration, attempting to create a confrontation. This is not about protesting, freedom, or God. They are in it for the money and the press; this is a family law firm. They are not a “church.” It is a scam. They go after anything that can get them in the news. This is a family of lawyers using this “god hates you” thing to make money. It is time for this scam to be over.
