Today is the 9th annual International Trangender Day of Remembrance. The Day of Remembrance was began as a way to memorialize those who have been murdered because of anti-transgender hatred and bias.

In this video clip transgender minister Drew Phoenix, pastor of St. John’s United Methodist Church in Baltimore, MD does a more eloquent job than I ever could of explaining why the Day of Remembrance is so important.

Events will be held across the country to mark the occasion. Click to find local Day of Remembrance events.
