Tom Cruise’s Scientology Speech

Is it just me or does Tom Cruise look and sound like a man possessed?

I think it’s a privilege to call yourself a Scientologist, and it’s something that you have to earn because a Scientologist does… has the ability to create new and better realities and improve conditions. Being a Scientologist, you look at someone and know absolutely that you can help them.

If you ever encounter him in this state, run away fast and run far.

The guy is very dishonest for pushing what he has to know is a sham religion.

He clearly believes and that’s the most frightening thing of all. I don’t gainsay the right of any science fiction writer to invent his own religion – hey, maybe the guy knows something, right? – just try and steer clear of the lizards. They’ll give you away every time.

In Andrew Morton’s new biography on Whackjob Tom, he writes that Cruise is very uncomfortable around gay men.

    It has to do with:

    1. Scientology is antigay
    2. Scientology claims to be able to “cure” homosexuality
    3. Tom Cruise is a closet case who would rather have a cock up his ass than have his cock in Katie

I agree that Tom Cruise believes his cult is for real–though this video is no longer available–but I also thinks that he realizes what a choice position he’s in.

I think it’s more accurate to think of the Church of Scientology as a philosophy that supports a pyramid scheme. And Cruise with his (I think) narcissistic tendencies can’t really see the dark side/bottom side of the scheme. HE’s clear, HE can see how others are troubled, HE doesn’t need any psychiatric meds, etc. so why shouldn’t the rest of the world reflect his view of reality. And God help you, if you, like Matt Lauer, challenge him on his beliefs and he then feels entitled to attack you verbally.

A woman writing a letter to the New York Times after this televised statement by Cruise wrote this response: “Mr. Cruise thinks his truth is the only one, and anyone who doesn’t agree with him doesn’t know the ‘real story.’ I wonder if he has any idea of how foolish and shallow he makes himself look,” wrote Sandra Sizer.

I don’t care about their personal or even organizational beliefs. I do care when they develop plans to push it all down our throats with a Karl Rove-like disinformation campaign.

Perhaps we should ask people who have escaped scientology what THEY

I found this video to be interesting to say the least because Tom is really passionate about his belief in Scientology. He even had me feeling like it was a PSA, where he was trying to draft more people into being proactive, rather than passive members of society. Hopefully, someone could benefit from his enthusiasm, when he helps someone. But, I do wonder where his motivation comes from as he says he wants to help people. As a Christian, I can say that it stems from God, who is love. Since I don’t know so much about Scientology, I wonder if his emotions are completely genuine.

If they had nothing to hide, why would they kill the video?
