Clinton and Obama Spar (and Edwards was There Too)

Last night’s Democratic debate reminded me of a mixed martial arts fight: elbows and knees were flying everywhere. Thats mostly a good thing IMHO.

I believe that in a political campaign like in a MMA bout a candidate should passionately make their case and seek to advance their position and aggressively defend their ground while looking for the takedown and submission. I also believe that politics should stop at the water’s edge, that after the tapout or knockout you congratulate your opponent on a good fight and move forward.

We will see if Barack Obama and Hillary Clinton can shake hands and work together to improve the lives of the American people after this campaign which is going to get nastier as the stakes get higher.
