Pennsylvanians Are Too Racist to Vote for Obama

Who said that?

Ed Rendell, governor of Pennsylvania and Hillary Clinton surrogate.

You’ve got conservative whites here, and I think there are some whites who are probably not ready to vote for an African-American candidate.

That’s a direct quote from a meeting that Rendell had with the editorial board of the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette. Is this just the latest effort by supporters of Hillary Clinton to remind voters that Barack Obama is (gasp!) Black and that putting a (gasp!) Black person is in the White House is something that white voters should think hard about? Or, is it as the Clinton campaign will claim simply a comment from a volunteer surrogate for the campaign that was taken out of context?
