though i understand that not a lot of people have had a chance to see this yet, “Shelter” will have to be at the top of any must-see list. it is supposed to be in general circulation in March 2008 after making the film-fest rounds.

i saw it at Reeling 2007, the Chicago LGBT film festival. it is really well done and tells a regular old love story that just happens to be gay.

Brad Rowe, one of the leads, was at the screening along with his wife, who he says has seen the movie more than anyone else in the world. he also brought his parents to see it their first time. he’s from Milwaukee, so he told us that the hardest part of making the movie was the surfing. ain’t much surf in Milwaukee or Chicago!

Don’t you just love Jeffrey? This is a movie I could watch over and over again, and not get sick of it.

It is great that there are some really good gay films out there. I would like to see more gay films with gay actors receiving the big budget treatment from Hollywood.

“Enterprising”? How does that work? I didn’t think it was some sort of contest. I read your list and loved it, and just thought I’d add a few that have changed my life.

    Anyway, thanks for the link.

no Latter Days or Brokeback Mountain…what is up with that?……………………..the two came so close together that the Mormon themed film did not get the mass of press focus that it would have…….best line from L D…..Jackie Bissett’s reaction to the Mormon concept of heaven…..”Let me see here no alcohol and no Homosexuals in your heaven…..Well I certainly will not be going!”

    @ the Cajun,

No, you’re right it is not a contest. I did not mean to imply that it was. In my book “enterprising” is a good thing and simply means that you took initiative. Keep up the good work!

What, no love for “Torch Song Trilogy”? Or what about “Tongues Untied”? Does it have to be a fictional film, or does it just have to be Academy-eligible? 🙂

Hmmm, I’ll try and rent Big Eden sometime soon.

Anyone ever see “Adventures of Felix”?

Also, “Punks” should be on the list (probably at #1) but it’s just so hard to access.
