Fred Phelps to Picket Heath Ledger’s Funeral

It should come as no surprise that right-wing evangelical nuctcase Fred “God Hates Fags” Phelps and his Westboro Baptist Church will be picketing the funeral of actor Heath Ledger.

Yes. WBC will picket this pervert’s funeral, in religious protest and warning: “Be not deceived; God is not mocked.” Gal. 6:7. Heath Ledger thought it was great fun defying God Almighty and his plain word; to wit: God Hates Fags! & Fag Enablers! Ergo, God hates the sordid tacky, bucket of slime seasoned with vomit known as ‘Brokeback Mountain’ – and He hates all persons having anything whatsoever to do with it. Heath Ledger is now in Hell, and has begun serving his eternal sentence there – beside which, nothing else about Heath Ledger is relevant or consequential.

Phelps and his brood are best known for its protests at the funerals of soldiers killed in Iraq. Phelps was recently ordered to pay $11,000,000 to the father of a slain soldier for picketing the soldier’s funeral.

Phelps is a charming fellow indeed.

Fred Phelps Must Pay $11 Million

Hatemonger Fred Phelps better hope that God gives him a really big loan because he has just been slapped with an $11 million judgement for protesting at the funeral of a Maryland soldier killed in the Iraq war. Phelps and his inbred brood who made a shameful name for themselves promoting a virulent strain of homophobia and claiming that “God hates fags” and that AIDS is God’s judgement against homosexuality, now claim that the Iraq war is God’s retribution for America’s moral decline.

The jury ordered the pastor and two other church members — his daughters, Shirley L. Phelps-Roper and Rebekah L. Phelps-Davis — to pay $8 million in punitive damages and $2.9 million in compensatory damages. Snyder, of Westminster, died in a vehicle accident March 3, 2006, in Anbar province.

Members of the church protested at Snyder’s funeral, displaying signs, including one that read, “Thank God for Dead Soldiers.”

Fred and Fred: A Tale of Two Homo-Haters

Fred “God Hates Fags” Phelps and his brood of America-hating nutcases are claiming that presidential candidate Fred Thompson once saw “eye to eye” with them in their hatred of LGBT people.

Thompson was hired for a mid-1980s legal case in Kansas on the recommendation of Margie Phelps, daughter of Westboro founder Fred Phelps.

The Topeka, Kan.-based church is now best known for protesting at soldiers’ funerals, claiming their deaths are retribution for the nation’s acceptance of homosexuality.

Thompson campaign spokeswoman Karen Hanretty on Wednesday dismissed the church as “a radical fringe group, looking to draw attention to themselves.”

“Their behavior at the funerals of fallen soldiers is disgraceful and reprehensible,” she said. “In no way do these people share Fred’s values.”

Church members released an open letter to Thompson this week, saying he had discussed his views on homosexuality with them while handling the case of a woman who had sued the state’s Republican attorney general for sexual harassment.

“We know what your position used to be on the homosexual question _ and it was wonderful, and we saw eye to eye,” church members said in the letter to Thompson.
