Hurricane Katrina Two Years Later

I am proud to be an American, but I cannot say that I am proud of the failed response of our government to Hurricane Katrina and the devastation that it brought on Americans living in New Orleans. Its been two years after the hurricane hit and there are still far too many people without adequate housing, healthcare and jobs and despite a photo op by President Bush this week the federal government seems to have forgotten the city.

Its absolutely amazing that the Bush administration is spending $12 BILLION a month on the disastrous war in Iraq while refusing to spend the necessary money needed to rebuild one of America’s greatest cities.

The amazing folks at Brave New Films have created this short video portrait of NOLA and the people who are continuing to work to rebuild their city and their lives even as the federal government, the traditional media and much of America seems to have forgotten them.
